Rob Larson is a Director in the Boston office with over 15 years of experience spanning strategy consulting, private equity investing, and operating roles.

At Stax, Rob focuses primarily in healthcare, regularly leading projects across the following:

  • Physician practices (value-based care, primary care, behavioral health, surgery, dermatology, GI, women’s health, etc.)
  • Other practices (dental, physical therapy, optometry, nutrition, wellness, etc.)
  • Facilities (hospitals, ASCs, urgent care centers, imaging centers, ED/OR staffing, etc.)
  • Long-term care (home health, hospice, palliative, skilled nursing, senior living, etc.)
  • Healthcare IT (EHR, practice management, population health, patient engagement, RCM, payments, etc.)
  • Payors / insurance (Medicare Advantage, managed Medicaid, QHPs, self-ensured employers, etc.)
  • Medical devices/equipment (contract manufacturing, supporting services, distribution, etc.)
  • Biopharma (CROs, manufacturing, commercialization services, policy, etc.)

Previously, Rob performed strategy consulting at Monitor Group for the private equity (Monitor Clipper Partners), pharmaceutical, biotech and software industries; hospital consulting with the Chartis Group; and private equity consulting at Investor Group Services.

Rob previously worked in the private equity industry as an investment professional for WPA, a PE firm based in Boston with a fund focused on emerging markets, and for Lyceum Capital, a London-based PE firm with a fund focused on business services in the UK.

Rob also has operating experience gained on the corporate strategy team and later as chief of staff to the CEO at ING Direct, the largest online bank in the U.S., and as chief strategy officer and head of product at the Society of Grownups, a financial literacy startup backed by a $35M investment from MassMutual.

Rob has an M.B.A. from The Wharton School and a B.S. in Physics from Brigham Young University.

Rob previously worked in the private equity industry as an investment professional for WPA, an emerging markets-focused firm based in Boston managing a $115M fund, and for Lyceum Capital, a London-based mid-markets generalist firm managing a $400M fund.

Has experience across the healthcare landscape, including physician practices (value-based care, behavioral health, dermatology, women’s health, surgery, etc.), ancillary healthcare (physical therapy, optometry, dental, etc.), healthcare facilities (ASCs, hospitals, urgent care, imaging centers, etc.), healthcare IT (EHR/EMR, PM, PHM, RCM, etc.), and health insurance. Previously performed strategy consulting at Monitor Group serving the private equity (Monitor Clipper Partners), pharmaceutical, biotech and software industries, and at The Chartis Group serving hospitals.
  • Private equity investment experience gained previously while working as an investment professional for WPA, an emerging market focused firm in Boston managing a $115M fund, and for Lyceum Capital, a London-based mid markets generalist firm managing a $400M fund.
  • Operating experience from serving as executive advisor to the CEO and corporate strategy team lead at ING Direct, the largest online bank in the US, and as chief strategy officer and head of product at the Society of Grownups, a financial education software startup backed by $30M in funding.
  • M.B.A. from the Wharton School and a B.S. in Physics with Minor in Mathematics from Brigham Young University.
