Paul Edwards is the Global Practice Leader at Grant Thornton | Stax, where he leads firm strategy and execution, delivering high-impact engagements to private equity clients around the world. 


Over the past two decades, Paul has become a trusted advisor to many of the world's top dealmakers. He has built Grant Thornton | Stax's private equity practice into a global powerhouse, now supporting more than 300 engagements annually and guiding successful investments across five continents.


Throughout his career, Paul has led over 1,000 engagements for private equity sponsors, spanning buy- and sell-side diligence and growth strategy, and advising on over $100B of deal value. Known for blending sharp, data-driven analysis with real-world insight, he brings deep sector expertise in software and industrials.


A respected leader and mentor, Paul continues to shape the future of global M&A through strategic clarity and a deep understanding of evolving market dynamics. He is also deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of consulting leaders, helping them grow into trusted advisors to drive meaningful impact at scale.


Prior to joining Grant Thornton | Stax, Edwards was a consultant for STS, providing strategic research and industry analysis of the transportation, aviation, homeland security and defense markets on behalf of global corporate clients and government departments across Europe and the U.S.


Edwards was the founder of BtG UK, a global education/cultural consulting company serving more than one million young people. In this role Edwards designed and implemented product development and marketing strategies to engage more than 1,000 high schools and universities across the UK in just 12 months.


Earlier in his career, Edwards held senior leadership positions with the UK Department of Education, StudySmart, Inc. and the National Union of Students (UK) where he chaired the executive committee and oversaw the organization’s financial and strategic management.


A published thought leader in the Journal of Private Equity, Edwards holds an M.B.A. from the European School of Business Management (UK), and a B.S. in Material Science and Industrial Management from the University of Wales (Swansea).

Extracurricular

Paul is a proud and very busy father of three children, as well as a seasoned world traveler having visited over 30 countries. He enjoys golfing in his free time and is constantly trying to improve his game.
