About

Matt McMillion is a Director in our Chicago office, with more than a decade of experience leading strategy and commercial diligence engagements for investors and operators. He specializes in M&A, portfolio strategy, and value creation, with a primary focus on healthcare


Matt has expertise across the healthcare ecosystem, including provider services, revenue cycle management (RCM), and healthcare IT (HCIT) for providers and payors. Prior to joining Grant Thornton | Stax, Matt led Corporate Strategy at R1 RCM, where he was responsible for M&A activity and post-deal value creation across the RCM and provider services space. Before that, he was an Associate Partner in the Private Equity Group at Bain & Company, where he advised private equity and corporate clients on growth strategy and commercial diligence, with a focus on healthcare services and technology. 


Matt holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and a BA in Economics and History, also from UVA.

Whether by land or sea, Matt enjoys spending his free time adventuring—If you’re in Chicago, you’ll likely spot him sailing out of Belmont Harbor on his 1975 Tartan or biking around the city with his wife and daughters.
