Having supported firms on hundreds of due diligence engagements across a multitude of industries, we can quickly assess a client’s needs and provide teams that can scale up or down depending on deal size sand risk.

Portfolio Operations Support

Stax works with many of the leading portfolio operations teams in the world, providing them with substantive leverage. We really understand what companies are doing, and get good grades for providing highly focused and content-driven engagements. Our reasonable fee structure and case team flexibility allows management to bring us in without heartburn, and in many cases, to create market lift for the classic strategic and analytic assignments.

In full disclosure though, we’re not staffed for live-on-site projects, or for “transformational” engagements that often require substantive headcount reduction over the course of 6-9 months in the field. Our teams check in often with management, and yet are careful with their time and resources.

SECTORS OF EXPERTISE

Examples of Engagements:

  • Branding & Positioning.  A global private equity firm utilized our recommendations to improve their messaging and to shape their sales activities by region. This Client engaged Stax to develop a field-level evaluation of awareness and perceptions of the firm among deal influencers. In order to do this, Stax conducted in-depth phone interviews with M&A participants, and aggregated respondents through a web-based survey covering North America, Latin America and the European Union.
  • Portfolio Company Growth Strategy. For a global agriculture equipment manufacturer, developed a five year growth strategy that was actionable at the C-level for long term initiatives, and at salesforce level for short term tactical results. The Client decided which markets to focus on for the short-, mid- and long-term based on Stax’s multi-regional assessment of its core and potential markets. Over a three month period, Stax conducted a bottom-up assessment of markets in North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Asia based on interviews, and a macro assessment of those markets based on secondary research.
  • Mid-Auction Revisit. Stax was engaged to assess what impact—if any—a mid-auction strike had on a target company’s current market position. The Client used our findings to ascertain how sales and orders had been impacted; to determine if the strike had had any impact on the target company’s relationship with its distributors and end-users; and to understand whether or not the strike would have any lasting impact on the business going forward.  We found that there had not been any significant redistribution in market share due to the strike, and the Client proceeded with investment.
