Examples of Engagements:
- Traffic and Spend Forecasting. A casual dining restaurant chain used Stax’s analytical capabilities to assess performance outlook during the recession, and allocated resources based on our findings. Through a combination of fresh consumer field research and a regression analysis of quarterly historical financial performance, Stax was able to forecast near-term traffic and spending patterns; gauge the degree to which the restaurant’s price-value equation was in line with consumer expectations; and validate the long-term stability of the customer base.
- Customer Segmentation and Targeting. Helped a multi-product luxury cosmetics company to better understand users and adoption potential by customer type, age, product mix and channel. The actionable customer segmentation developed by Stax was used by the Client to determine product development, packaging, distribution, advertising spend and messaging.
- Consumer Insights for Diligence Support. A private equity firm with 20+ years’ experience in branded products engaged Stax to assess the merits of a portfolio of orphan brands. For one of the key brands, Stax assessed its ability to drive incremental sales through price increases; gauged consumer interest in product extensions; and assessed the brand’s competitive positioning and overall viability given the lack of advertising and marketing to date. Based on our assessment of the market opportunity—that the brand was fundamentally sound and could be fixed with operational improvements like better in-store merchandising and product extensions—the firm successfully went ahead with the investment.
