Business Analyst
Position Overview:
Stax reports provide our clients with insightful analyses and recommendations regarding market and investment opportunities, competitive threats, customer segmentation strategies, channel conflicts and other market-facing issues. Underlying these reports are creative and rigorous research methodologies that leverage both primary and secondary sources. We are seeking creative and strategic researchers to provide in-depth research across all industry areas to support client work. We are seeking creative and motivated analysts for our Colombo, Sri Lanka office to research, review and analyze multiple data streams, and generate reports and recommendations for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Support Directors, Managers and Senior Analysts to conduct market sizing, customer segmentation and competitive landscape studies.
- Conduct analysis, interpret results and synthesize recommendations.
- Support ongoing business intelligence, competitive and best practice efforts.
- Gather, review and analyze data generated from primary and secondary research sources
- Develop insights from data, and write components of research reports that address key issues
- Conduct independent research in support of project objectives
- For example, conducting in-depth interviews with industry experts
- Ensure that the quality and timeliness of deliverables meet client expectations
- Respond to research requests from Stax teams and clients on a timely basis.
- Generate "reading packs" in response to research requests that accurately address the key issues/needs.
- Summarize research findings and implications to support project and sales teams.
- Proactively identify and update secondary research sources for use on projects.
- Train analysts in secondary research techniques
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree required preferably in Economics, Marketing or Finance. A Masters degree is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of online business research using Dialog, Factiva/LexisNexis, and related services.
- Persistence and creativity in identifying and extracting data and information from published sources.
- Ability to search for information creatively and cost-effectively, and juggle multiple quick-turnaround projects under tight deadlines.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior international experience (professional or academic) is highly desirable.
- Undergraduate degree required. A Masters degree is highly desirable.
- Excellent strategic thinking, understanding of business research and analysis.
- Quantitative skills highly desirable.
